Nylon is a polymer—a plastic with super-long, heavy molecules built up of short, endlessly repeating sections of atoms, just like a heavy metal chain is made of ever-repeating links. Nylon is not actually one, single substance but the name given to a whole family of very similar materials called polyamides. Generally, nylon is a silky smooth thermoplastic, which is strong, tough, and durable. It has utstanding balance of mechanical properties and is tough in equilibrium moisture content. It strongly resists chemical and oil. Its fabrics are well-know for wear and abrasion resistance. It has property of excellent surface finish even when reinforced.
